Tuesday Ten- Things Bloggers Do That Our Husbands Will Never Understand

I started my blog a few years ago just as a way to keep track of my projects and be able to share them with my family easily. Then about 6 months ago I discovered the world of blogging as a hobby. My husband doesn't really understand blogging and why I do it so I thought I would make a Tuesday 10 about some of the odd behaviors us bloggers have. Hope you enjoy!!

1. Rushing to finish a project so you can take a picture of it in good lighting.

2. Talking about your blogging friends or blogs you love in great detail.

3. Spending hours posting to linky parties every day.

4. Yelling "Don't touch the pie! I have to take a picture of it!" and oh yeah, you have to take a picture of it with a slice out too.

5. Spending more time blogging than actually crafting or cooking.

6. Cleaning just the part of the house you are taking pictures of while the rest of the house is a disaster zone.

7. Making way more DIY projects than you normally would- just so you can make a tutorial.

8. Neglecting taking care of your kids/husband/pets while you are making something for them.

9. Taking self portraits out on the porch so your neighbors think you are crazy!

10. Pinterest Addictions!!

Carnitas Meat- From Zoe's Kitchen

This is a recipe I started making a couple years ago when my husband went wild hog hunting. I had never really prepared a hog roast before but this recipe is a great way to make Carnitas meat for tacos, burritos or even for pulled pork sandwiches. Plus it is really easy to do in the mornings before work because you can just throw it in the crock pot.

Carnitas Meat
1 pork roast (size doesn't really matter a lot unless it doesn't fit in your crock pot)
2 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp Oregano
1 Tbsp Parsley
1Tbsp Cumin
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 bay leaves
2 cups chicken broth (I usually use the granules mixed with water)

Directions
Mix all of the spices except bay leaves in a small bowl.

Place the two bay leaves at the bottom of the crock pot.

Take the spices and rub all over the outside of the pork roast until it is coated. Place roast on top of bay leaves in the crock pot.

Carefully pour chicken broth around the edges of the crock pot- don't pour directly on as it will wash off the seasoning rub.

Cook on low for at least 6 hours (I put it in before I leave for work and it is perfect when I get home)

It is done when meat is tender and pulls apart easily.

Remove meat from crock pot and shred.

Serve with tacos, burritos, or nachos (especially good with Fresh Guacamole). The seasoning is even mild enough that we add barbecue sauce and make pulled pork sandwiches.

Enjoy!!

Valentine's Candy Coated Trail Mix- New Food Friday

Want to make a sweet treat for your loved ones this Valentine's Day? I have got a great recipe for you. This candy coated trail mix is delicious and has some healthy aspects to it too!

Almost any ingredients that you use in trailmix would work with this but this is what I used:

Candy Coated Trail Mix
1/2 box Wheat Chex
1/2 bag pretzel twists
1 small container peanuts
1 bag Valentine's M&M (milk chocolate)
1 standard package of Candy Quick coating- vanilla flavored
red food coloring

Mix all the ingredients except the Candy coating and food coloring in large bowl.

Melt Candy Coating per instructions on package and add food coloring to make it pink.

I added the candy coating in two batches- just dump melted coating on top of trail mix and stir until it is evenly coated. Lay flat on aluminum foil or wax paper coated cookie sheets to let dry.

Once it is dried you can enjoy!!
Place in cute Valentine's baggies or serve out of the bowl.
After I did this I thought some dried cranberries or raisins would have been delicious in this too! Might have to try it again!

Rapunzel Tower Cake

Last Saturday way my niece Marley's 3rd birthday party. She is obsessed with the movie Tangled as are a lot of 3 year old girls I know. She wanted a "Dark Purple Tangled Birthday Party" and her Mom delivered! I helped out with the cake and frosting the cupcakes.

The bottom part of the cake isn't actually cake it is an oatmeal container filled with rice for weight. We decorated paper to look like the tower from Tangled. The roof is also decorated paper. The top of the cake is 3- 8" layers of white and strawberry cake. We used buttercream frosting and used yarn for the hair.

Marley wore the Rapunzel Costume that I made for her for Halloween and the hair that my mother helped make.

Birthday Girl being sassy!

We also made cupcakes with Pascal and the Tangled Sun on them. I should have taken a picture the night before- some of the frosting colors bled!
