Rapunzel Tower Cake

Last Saturday way my niece Marley's 3rd birthday party. She is obsessed with the movie Tangled as are a lot of 3 year old girls I know. She wanted a "Dark Purple Tangled Birthday Party" and her Mom delivered! I helped out with the cake and frosting the cupcakes.

The bottom part of the cake isn't actually cake it is an oatmeal container filled with rice for weight. We decorated paper to look like the tower from Tangled. The roof is also decorated paper. The top of the cake is 3- 8" layers of white and strawberry cake. We used buttercream frosting and used yarn for the hair.

Marley wore the Rapunzel Costume that I made for her for Halloween and the hair that my mother helped make.

Birthday Girl being sassy!

We also made cupcakes with Pascal and the Tangled Sun on them. I should have taken a picture the night before- some of the frosting colors bled!

I will be linking up with Some of these parties!
Thanks for stopping by!

Rapunzel Costume

This month I decided to challenge myself and make my niece a Halloween Costume. She loves the movie Tangled and so I decided to make her a Rapunzel Dress.  I used Simplicity 2065- made in size 3- It is a slight bit too long for her and a little bit too big in the bodice. I read several reviews saying the bodice is sized too small and it is way too long but I didn't experience that.

It will be nice for it to fit her in January- I think she is planning on having a Tangled birthday party- so she can wear the dress then too!

This is my first time sewing something so detailed. The pattern was great- not too complicated, and I love the way the dress turned out!

My mother and I made the braid (Instructions for the braid came with the pattern). My mother also made the felt flowers just using felt, hot glue, and beads.

Seeing Marley play in this dress was just too fun!

Thanks to my talented sister Camille of Camille Nolan Photography for taking these photos of Marley!!

Eli wanted to dress up too, so we made him a makeshift Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume.  His real one should be better!

I will be linking up to some of THESE PARTIES!

Hope you all have a Happy Halloween!!!
