About Me

I am the next-to-youngest of five siblings. I grew up in a small town until I was about 5. The summer before I started kindergarten we moved out to an old farmhouse on 40 acres.  I LOVED living in the country- the wildlife, the grass, the quiet, playing in the woods, climbing trees, sitting in trees and reading all day, having outside pets, and growing a garden. Most of these things still apply to me today, though I don't climb quite as many trees anymore :).

I did some crafting while I was growing up- craft projects my mother had for us, learning to sew from 4-H, and scrap booking. I didn't really start loving crafts until I took a part time job at Hobby Lobby in the fabric section during college. After that it was all over- I was addicted to cross stitch, fabric, painting and any kind of creativity I could get my hands on.

The project that started it all! My first cross stitch and first pillow- made as a gift for my oldest nephew's 2nd birthday!

Recently I moved back to the country with my husband when we bought our first house. So a lot of my projects have to do with making our house a home and I am trying out some new techniques! I would love for you to come along with me on the journey!

Some Random Information:

I am a Registered Dietitian- I know what foods are best for you (doesn't mean I always eat them!).

I have two dogs- Scout- who the blog was named after, and Penny.

I have two cats- Bubbles and Socks.

In 2010 I did a triathlon and in 2011 I did a half-marathon- Looking forward to getting back in shape!

Some likes (in no particular order)- creamed corn, chai latte frappucinos, St. Vincent, rustic style, cooking, Manchester Orchestra, dogs, playing games- esp. Qwirkle and Scrabble, being with my family, reading other craft blogs, scrap booking, having projects actually turn out good :).

Some dislikes- people being mean to me or other people, pop music, violent movies, spending a lot of money on clothes, feeling uninspired, being sick or feeling bad.
