Photography Challenge Week #16- Someone You Love

I have been slacking on my photo challenge posts- last week was something that I made .

So here is a picture of some homemade cupcakes I made- mmmm.

This week's challenge is someone that you love. I love all of my nieces and nephews but this is a fun picture that I got of my little niece Marley! She is such a joy in my life!

Photo Challenge Week #11- Something Orange

This week I had pumpkins on the brain- obviously something orange. But then I went to Chase County Lake and got some beautiful pictures of the sunset. That is definitely orange too, so I will share it today for the photo challenge. I did use one of the sunset pictures on my last post too, so if you already saw that just enjoy it twice :).

Photo Challenge Week #9- A Mess

I'm not going to lie- this week's challenge was not too difficult for me. So here it is- the mess that is my craft room. I have been so busy filling orders for cross stitch/embroidery fabrics on Etsy that I haven't had time to clean them up.

But wait- there is more!! (and you get to see my pretty thrift store "Z")!!

There were more areas that I could take pictures of messes- the sewing table, more cross stitch/embroidery fabric strewn across the twin bed- but I didn't!

Photo Challenge Week #6- From a Low Angle

This one was a little easier than last week's challenge, but I did think about it a little more throughout the week.

This shot I got of one of our new kittens (who will be properly introduced tomorrow!). It is on our front porch and I like the action in the shot.

Photography Challenge Week #5- From A High Angle

I had a rough time with this week's challenge- didn't really have a lot of spare time and so procrastinated and only had a little bit of time to do it tonight. The light was really low and I had a hard time getting the camera to focus correctly. This is what I came up with- my little ones- Scout and Penny!

The funniest part of this whole process was that I climbed up on top of the couch to get a high angle and Penny (the little red dog) freaked out. She climbed up on the couch by me and put her paws up on the back of the couch and looked at me like, "What in the world are you doing Mom?? What's going on up here??" I didn't get this pic until a little later when all the commotion of me standing on the couch had died down!

Photography Challenge Week #3- Bold Colors

This week's challenge was bold colors- I found the perfect thing last weekend at the Kanrocksas music festival. It was so pretty I think I took 30 pictures of it!! Love all the bright colors!

What Makes Me Smile- Photo Challenge Week #2

Trey jumping off the dock. I am in love with this 1960's effect!

This week's challenge was something that makes you smile. Nothing makes me smile more than my nieces and nephews. Last weekend they came out to our house and we had a blast jumping off the dock, swimming in the lake and taking the canoe out. This first photo is my favorite of the ones I got.

Photography Challenge Week #1- Self Portrait

Posting for my Thursday Photography Challenge- This week's challenge was a self portrait.

I had a little bit of difficulty with this one- first off I am not too comfortable with taking pictures of myself and felt a little bit like a dork sitting outside doing this. But I had a few come out nicely. Also, getting good lighting with my old point and shoot camera is hard. Either you have the flash on and it is all washed out or it becomes very blurry easily without the flash on.

The other hard part was that I don't have a tri-pod or any remotes so these were do the old fashioned way- holding the camera up in my face!

I think my favorite part of this was the editing. I enjoyed playing with the images, fixing colors, doing cool effects.

Here are a few of the pictures I got for my self portrait this week.

This one is my favorite- I love the frame of it and how it looks like I am behind a rain drop covered window. I also really liked the soft focus and colors of this one, even though I look a little pinkish!

Here it is in a different effect- I like it like this too.

A few more that I liked how they turned out. Once I got over feeling like a dork this challenge was kind of fun.

This one was taken with the flash- I like the composition but I had to darken it quite a bit to keep the lighting from being too harsh.

On this last one you can see how without the flash it got a little blurry- but I like the color and softness so much better without the flash. I guess I will need to keep working on it!
