This evening I finished one cushion I made from the portable cushion tutorial on Sew, Mama, Sew. I followed the tutorial pretty closely except for I didn't put the handle on and I added ties to secure them on the chairs.
I LOVED this tutorial. It was easy to follow and turned out great. This was my first zipper I ever sewed in and the first time ever made piping. Some of the things I loved about the tutorial:
- The technique for making the piping casing was wonderful- and will be useful for making bias tape too.
- There were pictures for every step of the project.
- Making my own piping- so much cuter than buying it- worth the extra time!
I only got one completely finished and you can see it below on one of our deck rocking chairs. I bought too much fabric (oops!) and so on top of the 5 cushions I planned on doing I may do some back cushions on the chairs. So this project may take a while.
Here is the other fabric I am doing on our white "set" of deck furniture. I love the colors and pattern on this one.
Happy Crafting!
Love your fabric choice... bravo! Too much fabric... can you ever have too much fabric?!
ReplyDeleteI love those fabric colors! And you are right about the paper map! It would be great to map a family's travels.
ReplyDeleteStinkin Cute!
ReplyDeleteI think you chose great colors for the chair. And the piping is very neatly done. I need a cushion for my $1 chair. Come see!
