This is the project that I did for Project Recycled, but got voted out before it was shown on the contest. I altered this maxi dress to something I will like to wear.
I actually purchased this dress from the Salvation Army the week before I found out I was going to be on Project Recycled. I spent $4.75 on it.
It was about 8 sizes too big but I love the color, pattern and the lightweight fabric.
I saw the potential in it.
So I took in the sides and viola- a summery maxi dress for me.
So simple yet so cute- very satisfying results!

Looks great! You make it sound so easy!
Bravo! Never think to look in the BIG sizes and alter to fit! Smart shopper!
It turned out cute! Good work.
I love it! great idea :)
Upcycle is much better! So glad that you shared. Thanks for helping make Things I've Done Thursday a success!
You look stunning in your comfy upcycled maxi. I've been thinking of those myself as spring is finally here. We had June in March, Feb.-March in April, finally I think we have spring, lol. I'm a big girl so I won't find one so big on me, but it'd be great to be able to thrift one.
Looks great! New follower here - hope to see you hop over to my blog, too, and follow!
Cute!! I've done that too, pick something I love even though its too big and alter it down.....
Wow that turned out great! I've never made anything for myself besides an apron and I've never made something from another piece of clothing. This looks like a completely new dress! Fabulous job! Thanks for linking up to Pin-ed It, Made It.
I love it! The pattern and colors are great. You did a great job making into something that you love. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays.
