St. Patrick's Day in Style

I finally got back to some sewing for my kids!! I made them outfits for St. Patrick's day. I made both of these outfits from a 4XL sweatshirt I found on clearance at Wal-Mart for $3!

For my son's shirt I made him a long sleeve version of the Adventure Tee from Go To Patterns. I bought a kids collection of patterns from Pattern Anthology when the kids were just babies and I have made the Adventure Tee several times and love it! It stitches up really easy and is very versatile. Then I added a Shamrock applique using some flannel I had on hand.

For my daughter's dress I used the Warhol Dress Pattern from Made Everyday with Dana. I had to adjust the size a bit and it turned out a little more snug than I hoped. But I still liked it.

We walked in the parade with our local Mom's group and luckily we were at the beginning of the parade because then we got to watch the whole parade! We had lots of fun.

Winnie The Pooh Themed 2nd Birthday for the Twins

I am so behind on blogging because I haven't done it in a awhile. So here is the twins 2nd birthday party from 9 months ago! I got a lot of my ideas from Pinterest and thought of some on my own so I thought I would share to give others ideas. We ended up having two parties- one with the kids little friends and then a family/friend party. Both parties turned out well but were overwhelming to me (like always!). I was happy to have them done with!

I made the cake- carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and then used fondant for the honeycombs. I ordered the sugar bees to add the finishing touch. The statue of Piglet and Pooh is ceramic and is a keepsake from their party.

For the kids party I didn't get pictures of all the entertainment but we had dress up costumes of all the Winnie the Pooh characters, some from Halloween costumes and some we had on hand. We also had Winnie the Pooh puppets and a small tent for the kids to play in.

Both the Cupcake Topper Printables and the Pin the Tail on Eeyore game were printed from Disney's Craft website. They have a lot of fun crafts and games to print for any Disney themed parties!

Making a Barn Quilt

One of my great friends who blogs over at Home on the Range Exchange was hosting a Barn Quilt class. I thought it sounded like a fun idea to get out of the house and be creative. Plus I haven't had a lot of time to quilt lately so I was happy to have a quicker finishing project.  This is my completed square. I love the way it turned out and it sets on my front porch now.

The history of barn quilts is actually really interesting and someday I would like to go see the Flint Hills Barn Quilt trail.
